Search and rescue first responders face pressures unlike any other industry.

However, the impact of operating in such a high-stake environment on a near constant basis can have an impact on the mental health and wellbeing of those involved in maritime SAR.

Graeme Harding, Training Manager at South Africa’s National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) talks about the importance of mental health and wellbeing within the maritime SAR setting, what programmes NSRI have in place to support their teams, his own personal experience of mental health challenges, as well as the importance of initiatives like the #SARyouOK? initiative.
