#SARyouOK?

The IMRF's #SARyouOK? initiative looks to promote awareness and breakdown the stigma that is attached to mental health and wellbeing issues for those working in the maritime SAR sector.

As part of the campaign, the IMRF and its membership has undertaken a strategic review of some of the best practices, skills, training and major discussions that maritime SAR organisations utilise in order to ensure that the mental health and wellbeing of their crews and personnel are accounted for.

Following this, the IMRF launched its official #SARyouOK? Guidance document to the maritime SAR community as a culmination of these efforts. You can access the guidance by clicking here.

As part of our campaign, we spoke with Mark Bradley, a psychological support, trauma and critical incident management expert. Mark has more than 20 years of experience, specialising in major traumatic incidents including those in Paris, Brussels, Tunisia and Manchester. He has held a number of psychological support sessions in hostile environment courses, including Afghanistan, Iraq, West Africa and Central America, and is a major advocate for promoting a pro-active approach to mental and emotional health in the workforce.
