We kicked off the year with the 10th Annual SAR Workshop and EDI Workshop in Miami, bringing the global SAR community together to strengthen collaboration and advance inclusivity in maritime search and rescue.

Roly McKie spoke at the JAMS London International Seminar on the role of autonomous and remotely operated vessels in SAR, highlighting the need for MASS to be equipped for real-world rescue and survivor care.

IMRF joined the inaugural FloodFighters@Seawork to explore flood rescue, climate risk, and the future of SAR.

IMRF brought the global SAR community together in Gothenburg for the G6 Mass Rescue Conference and Subject-Matter Expert Course, exploring evolving challenges, innovative solutions, and international collaboration in mass rescue operations.

SAR experts from 11 countries came together in Gothenburg for the fifth Mass Rescue Operations Subject-Matter Expert (MRO SME) Course, taking part in scenario-based exercises and collaborative training to enhance global readiness for large-scale maritime rescues.

IMRF headed Down Under for its first-ever Regional Seminar in Sydney, joining forces with Marine Rescue New South Wales to bring together over 140 SAR professionals from around the world to share knowledge, explore new technologies, and discuss the key challenges and opportunities shaping the future of maritime SAR.

The IMRF hosted its inaugural #WomenInSAR training in Sydney, bringing together 15 participants from across the globe for three days of practical exercises, expert-led sessions, and peer learning, with invaluable support from Marine Rescue New South Wales and industry leaders. 

In Bangkok, the IMRF joined high-level WHO meetings and events to advance global drowning prevention, sharing maritime SAR expertise, supporting policy development, and helping shape strategies to strengthen lifesaving capabilities worldwide.

The IMRF marked London International Shipping Week 2025 as an official charity, hosting a special reception at Britannia P&I Club to celebrate maritime partnerships, spotlight SAR initiatives, and bring industry leaders together to strengthen life-saving efforts at sea.

The IMRF brought together 58 lifeboat crew from across Europe and Australia for the annual Lifeboat Crew Exchange, delivering a week of hands-on training, multinational exercises, and peer-to-peer collaboration to strengthen international SAR skills and build lasting connections at sea. 

The Safety in SAR Seminar brought global SAR professionals together at the RNLI College in Poole to share insights, tackle safety challenges, and explore how operational and psychological wellbeing combine to keep teams resilient. 

The 2025 Annual Meeting in Poole brought the global SAR community together for two action-packed days of knowledge-sharing, hands-on learning, and collaboration, inspiring new ideas and strengthening partnerships under the theme #BetterTogether. 

The 10th PacSAR Workshop in Suva, Fiji brought Pacific SAR agencies together to share knowledge, test mass rescue readiness, and strengthen regional collaboration, with IMRF contributing insights on global SAR resources and capabilities. 

SAR experts from around the world gathered in Sydney for JWG-SAR/32, with the IMRF sharing insights on technology, training, and wellbeing to help advance global search and rescue practices. 

IMRF joined the ILS World Conference on Drowning Prevention 2025 in Sharm El Sheikh, where over 400 delegates from over 50 countries gathered to advance global water safety.

While in Sharm El Sheikh, IMRF contributed to the ILS Flood Disaster Workshop, with Steve Wills sharing expertise on flood rescue challenges, training, and equipment, and presenting a case study on Bangladesh’s national response capabilities.
