The International Maritime Rescue Federation has launched a new Basic Rescue Boat Operator Manual, a vital best practice guide for any SAR rescue organisation.

The Manual can be adapted to fit any local conditions and provides all the basic information, skills development and suggested learning techniques for a maritime SAR organisation regardless of its organisational development.

This invaluable guide outlines best practice and methods to introduce basic training in rescue boat SAR operations. It includes essential skills, knowledge and guidance for those operating in a maritime SAR environment.

The Manual is accompanied by a set of Search Check Cards, which have been developed from the International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue Manual (IAMSAR) Volume III to complement the Manual when it’s being used for training purposes or in real-life scenarios.

“Great thought and planning have gone into the IMRF Basic Rescue Boat Operator Manual. It provides a very practical approach to dealing with real life rescue situations. The information is concise and relevant and I would definitely recommend it,” says Bruce Sandmann, Training Officer, National Sea Rescue Institute, South Africa.
